Senior site reliability engineer

Ricardo Herrera

Fig. 0 · Operator

I build infrastructure that stays up and stays boring: Kubernetes platforms, observability, and the automation that lets other engineers ship on their own. This drawing set takes the whole operation apart, one sheet at a time.

General notes

  1. Site reliability engineer with 10+ years in infrastructure, from a colo rack of ESXi hosts to multi-cluster Kubernetes on AWS.
  2. Now: senior SRE at Watchtower, contract SRE for G&G Outfitters, and co-founder of Glamer. Happiest building self-service platforms and making on-call quiet.
  3. Everything in Git. Self-service over tickets, SLOs over gut feel, runbooks that run themselves. Mostly Go, Terraform and FluxCD.
  4. [Something outside work: photography, records, old machines.] See fig. 2-C.
  5. All dimensions in millimetres. Do not scale from drawing.
